National Heritage Week Thanksgiving Church Service – “Saluting Our Heroes…Save Guarding Our Legacy”

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) an Agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport (MCGES), hosted the National Heritage Week Thanksgiving Church Service on Sunday, October 17 at Waltham Park New Testament Church under the Heritage Week 2021 theme Saluting Our Heroes...Safeguarding our Legacy.

The church service, which was broadcast virtually in keeping with the national social distancing protocols of the COVID-19 pandemic, saw participation by a number of national leaders, while the service’s powerful message was brought by the guest speaker, Pastor Carl Cunningham, Director of Sabbath School & Personal Ministries at the East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

The service saw remarks being brought by the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, Governor-General of Jamaica, while scripture readings were done by the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, Prime Minister and Mr. Mark Golding, Leader of the Opposition.

The Hon. Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport also brought remarks, while the Hon. Alando Terrelonge, Minister of State within the ministry made a presentation to the church on Minister Grange’s behalf.

Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Dr. Dominique Reid also lead the recital of the National Pledge while 2021 Jamaica Gospel Star Winner Erica Lumsden ministered beautifully in song.
