Floral Tribute to be held for Sir Donald Sangster’s 110th Anniversary of Birth

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) an Agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport (MCGES), will organize a Floral Tribute in commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the birth of the Most Honorable Sir Donald Sangster, ON, KCVO, Former Prime Minister of Jamaica, at his resting place at the National Heroes Park in Kingston on Tuesday, October 26. The floral tribute will be broadcast delayed on the JCDC’s Facebook and Youtube pages and on the MCGES social media pages, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Tributes will be laid by the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, ON, PC, MP, Prime Minister; Mr. Mark Golding, MP, Leader of the Opposition; the Honourable Robert Nesta Morgan, MP, Member of Parliament for North Central Clarendon; His Worship the Mayor Senator Councillor, Delroy Williams, CD, JP, Mayor of Kingston; His Worship the Mayor  Councillor Derrick Sangster, OD, St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation; Mr. Bindley Sangster and Mr. Anthony Faloon Sangster, sons of the late Sir Donald Sangster and Miss. Jannett Foster, Chairperson of the Summerfield Community Development Association.

Sir Donald Sangster was Jamaica’s second Prime Minister as well as the nation’s shortest serving Prime Minister to date. He succeeded the Rt. Excellent Sir Alexander Bustamante in February 1967, and served until April of that year when he succumbed to sudden illness.
