Exciting kick start to National Finals for Dance!

It was riot of colour, talent and cultural expression as Day One of the National Finals in Dance at  Jamaica Festival of the Arts organised by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

 

The stage at Little Theatre in St Andrew came alive with hundreds of young performers from across the island who were gold-medal winners and topped their respective categories and classes during the parish finals held earlier this year.

 

Divided in two parts, Thursday’s presentation saw a variety of dance forms ranging from movement and music for the little ones, six year and under to Jamaican and Caribbean Contemporary Folk, Praise Dance and Modern Contemporary  which involved performers aged nine years and under.

 

 Among the winners in Classes  One and Two were Silverstone Infant School, Half-Way Tree Primary, Alpha Infant School, Montego Bay Preparatory, St Aloysious Primary,  Waterford Primary, Dunrobin Primary, Creative Kids Learning Academy, Torrington Park Early Childhood Centre, and Holy Family Primary.

 

Ther overall winner in Class One having attained the highest score was Alpha Infant School, while the winner for Class Two was Half-Way Tree Primary School.
