Kingston, Jamaica: The “Sweet 16” Grand Final of the 2019 Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition has received a new date and venue and will be hosted this Sunday, June 9 at Church on the Rock, 7 Clifton Drive, Kingston 8, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Originally scheduled for the last Sunday in May to close out Child’s Month, the Grand Final was postponed due to inclement weather.
Organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), the competition’s national final will see the most soulful junior soloists, ensembles and choirs from across the island compete for a chance to take home cash prizes and trophies in addition to the competition’s prestigious titles.
“The Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition allows us to celebrate our junior songbirds as we nurture our young talents and specially celebrate them for Child’s Month; so as the organizers of the event, we were equally as disappointed as the contestants when we had to reschedule last week because of the weather,” said Andrew Clunis, JCDC Director of Marketing & Public Relations
“We know how hard our junior vocalists worked to prepare for the competition and we are excited that they will get the chance to show off their talents at the rescheduled Grand Final this Sunday,” He continued.
