Independence Village will be transformed into the biggest one-day foodstop. This will feature all Jamaican dishes, foods, soups, desserts reflecting ethnic diversities for purchase. All day music with giveaways & competitions (dominoes, bingo etc) will be executed creating a great vibe.

Children in the Village dubbed Picknifest. This is a programme specifically prepared and produced for children. Its aim is to create an atmosphere for children to learn about and be better able to appreciate the concept, significance and meaning of Emancipation and Independence in a fun way

Jamaica’s early history of economic activity is grounded in food.   As the slave plantations produced sugar for England’s tables and global trade, the slaves eked their domestic food stocks from Jamaica’s fertile soil.  The ability to provide for the family was always on the mind on the slaves and later, the free Jamaicans.

JCDC/TEF Jamaica Visual Arts Competition's 2017 Jury Prize Winners Exhibition Opening

The top three winners of the Jamaica Visual Arts Competition’s coveted 2017 Jury Prize will see their works exhibited at the Jamaica Conference Centre, Port Royal Street, Kingston, from May 21 to May 31. The exhibition, which will be launched on Sunday, May 20 beginning at 3:00 pm, will feature the works of outstanding artists Jermaine Morgan, Dwane Bailey and Michele Lee Lambert who received the first, second and third overall awards, respectively.
