The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) has extended the entry deadline for its 2021 Jamaica Customer Service Song Competition to Thursday, September 30 at midnight.
The competition which is in its 4th year of staging is a proud product of the partnership between the JCDC and the Jamaica Customer Service Association (JaCSA), and has quickly become a vibrant highlight of the annual National Customer Service Week each October.
“Though we had set an initial entry deadline of Tuesday, September 21, we have decided to extend the deadline for a few more days based on the encouraging feedback we received from potential entrants who requested that they be given a bit more time to prepare their entries,” said Avory Crooks, JCDC Music Development Specialist.
“As this competition continues to grow each year, so does its impact, so we look forward to welcoming entries from both new entrants as well as from our repeat participants and winners. These students enjoy creating and performing their original songs and look forward to spreading the message of good customer service while competing for a chance to win one of our top prizes,” Crooks continued.
The free original song competition targets youth aged 13 to 17 years, and is being held under the 2021 National Customer Week’s overarching theme of “You… Me… We… Got the Power of Service Excellence!”
Youth or School-based groups who are interested in entering the competition may do so by submitting a video performance of an original song in keeping with the theme to music@jcdc.gov.com. Each performance group should have three to five members, and each video entry should be four minutes or less.
The winning group will receive a cash prize of $80 000, while second place will receive $50 000 and third place will receive $30 000. The writer of the winning song will also receive a cash prize of $25 000.
Previous winners of the competition include DF Productions in 2020, Cornwall College in 2019 and Charlemont High in 2018.
