The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport is pleased to announce the results from the Grand Final of the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition, held on Sunday, August 5 at the National Arena:
- Winner: Daynea Deacon-Jones, “Worshipper’s Heart”
- 2nd place: Dwight Fearri, "God's Coverage"
- 3rd place: Adeoluwa Adeoye, "You Oh Lord"

ABOUT THE WINNER:
Daynea Deacon-Jones
Daynea Deacon-Jones grew up in Port Antonio, Portland where music was always a part of her life as her parents were known to sing in groups at church. She attended the Titchfield High School, where she was known as “the girl with the voice” and completed tertiary studies at the Mico College majoring in History. Later, Daynea pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in History Education at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
She placed third in the 2005 Digicel’s Rising Stars Competition and was a member of the UWI Pop Society and the UWI Chorale. She also represented the Rex Nettleford Hall in various music and dance competitions. She was also a member of the Mico University College Choir and won the “Best Female Gospel” category in the JCDC Music competition in 2004. Daynea is currently a History teacher at Campion College.
