NINE TO VIE FOR JCDC 2018 MISS KINGSTON & ST. ANDREW FESTIVAL QUEEN TITLE

Kingston Jamaica: Nine beautiful and talented ladies were sashed at the recently held Mayoral Reception and Sashing Ceremony of the Miss Kingston & St. Andrew Festival Queen Competition at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.

The contestants were sashed by sponsors from the respective companies which includes Tashana Hutchinson, Miss FMA Custom Brokers; Kimoy Allen, Miss Atlas Group Incorporated; Deandrea Dwyer, Miss Paradise Catering & Décor Services; Camile Clarke, Miss P.T.G. Electrical Bulding Solutions; Ashley Grey, Linton’s Academic Services; Paige Dixon, The Ladies Restaurant & Catering Services; Melessa Vassell, Miss Kingston & St. Andrew Municipal Corporation; Danielle Deans, Miss Clearsound Production Services and Leneka Rhoden, Miss Fontana Pharmacy.

The programme was intimate and entertaining, beginning with an opening performance by the contestant to showcase their talents. Four year old Monique Campbell of the St. Joseph Infant School and a Gold Medal winner in the JCDC Performing Arts Speech Competition captivate the audience with her performance of “Music Riot”. The Early Break Band, which comprises children under 12 years old kept the audience rocking to their favourite Jamaican Reggae Music.

The nine contestants will compete for this years’ prestigious title of Miss Kingston and St. Andrew Festival Queen and ultimately the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen title at the Grand Coronation.

Paulette Sutherland, Parish Manager, JCDC Kingston & St. Andrew, stated that some of the qualities that the contestants will be judged on at the night of the coronation includes, Cultural Awareness, Community Involvement, Walk & Poise, Talent/Performance, General Knowledge and Eloquence/Delivery.

Sutherland also noted that there is a hardworking and dedicated team of

trainers, all of whom are volunteers that is assisting the ladies in the

respective areas to take the stage at the coronation. As well as to make their contributions to nation building as the cultural ambassadors for Jamaica and an outstanding role model for other young women across the island.

The coronation will be held under the patronage of His Worship the Mayor, Senator, Councillor  Delroy Williams, Mayor of Kingston & St. Andrew on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre starting at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are, Presold $800, $1000 at the Gate and Children under 12  $500
