JCDC SALUTES MISS LOU WITH MONTH-LONG BIRTHDAY CELBRATION

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport has planned a series of island-wide activities to commemorate the 103rd birthday of the late Dr. the Honourable Louise Simone Bennett-Coverley, OM, OJ, MBE, affectionately called “Miss Lou”.  The first set of commemorative events will kick start on the cultural icon’s birthday, Wednesday, September 7, and continue throughout the month.

These activities will include a gathering at her resting place at the National Heroes park in Kingston, the unveiling of a Miss Lou Bust in the Multifunctional Room, UWI Main Library and various parish exhibitions, concerts and competitions.
