The Jamaica Creative Writing Competition will host free virtual workshops via Zoom for its Short Story and Playwriting categories on Friday, January 28 and Saturday, January 29 respectively.
Beginning at 3:00 p.m. on both days, the Short Story Workshop will cover the topics “Writing the Story” and “Exploring Genres” and will be presented by Dr. Aisha Spencer, the Acting Head of Department of Literatures in English at the University of the West Indies, Mona, while the Playwriting workshop will be led by celebrated Caribbean director Mr. Eugene Williams.
The workshops which are open to the public, are a part of a free literary workshop series being held to primarily help potential entrants prepare their entries ahead of the close of entries for the competition’s Jamaica 60 cycle on March 13, 2022.
Persons who are interested in entering any of the 2022 Jamaica Creative Writing Competition’ categories of: Poetry, Essays, Short Stories, Novels and Plays/Scripts may do so on the JCDC’s website www.jcdc,gov.jm.
