
Liberty Learning Centre from St. Mary was among the standout performers on Day 2 of the National Dance Finals at the Festival of the Performing Arts. The event, organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), was held at the Little Theatre in St. Andrew.
The school emerged as overall winners in several categories, including Duet, Schools and Community Groups Class 3 (12 years and under), and Caribbean Creative Folk, Class 3.
One of the highlights of the morning session was a captivating performance by a male student from Alpha Primary in the Modern Contemporary category for Class 3. His emotional routine, set to Jimmy Cliff’s Many Rivers to Cross, received resounding cheers and applause from beginning to end. For his exceptional performance, he was also declared the overall winner in his class and category.
Friday’s proceedings were divided into two segments, with younger performers taking the stage in the morning, and older participants performing later in the day.
The Dance Finals will conclude on Saturday, April 12, and will be followed by the National Finals for Drama, scheduled to take place at the Little Theatre from Monday, April 14 to Tuesday, April 15.
