Performing Arts Entry Deadline Fast Approaching

The deadline for entry for the 2020 National Festival of the Performing Arts is fast approaching, according to Director of Marketing and Public Relations at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), Andrew Clunis.

“The Performing Arts Festival is a signature programme of the JCDC which is anticipated by thousands of entrants across the island annually. We officially close for entries for the 2020 cycle this Friday, November 29, so we are encouraging all our potential entrants to carry their completed entry forms to their nearest JCDC parish Office as soon as possible,” Clunis said.

“We are seeking a record number of entries for 2020. We know the big impact that this competition has on individual lives and communities and we are determined to keep building the cultural capacity of the country. We are therefore encouraging people with the talent to attend and participate in the workshops and to try and meet the entry deadline,” Clunis continued.

Clunis further stated that the competition’s 2020 cycle will kick-start in January with parish-level auditions across the island.

For over five decades, National Festival of the Performing Arts has provided a platform for the unearthing, developing, promoting and preserving of the creative talents and cultural expressions of the Jamaican people through the five performing arts subject areas of Dance, Drama, Music, Speech and Traditional Folk Forms.

Entry forms with additional information can be found online at www.jcdc.gov.jm, or at the JCDC Head Office, 3-5 Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10 and all JCDC parish offices island-wide.
