Kingston, Jamaica: Talented youngsters from across the island will bless Kingston with their vocals on Sunday, April 7, at the 2019 National Children’s Gospel Song Competition’s “Sweet 16” Semi-Final Concert.  Being organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), the free concert will be held at the Louise Bennett Garden Theatre, 36 Hope Road, Kingston 10, starting at 5:30 p.m. and will see the 24 semi-finalists compete for a spot in the National Finals.

According to Andrew Clunis, Director Marketing & Public Relations, “Four regional eliminations were held across the island to select the most talented performers to compete in the semi-final round. This year some remarkable talents were unearthed and this cream of the crop is sure to bless everyone in attendance at the semi-final concert.” 

Clunis also noted that each year the competition continues to attract some of the most talented children in Jamaica in the various categories which include solo, ensemble and choir. These talented youngsters will compete in two age classes, 6-10 years old and 11-15 years old.

The selected finalists of the National Children’s Gospel Song Competition will then go on to compete in their various categories at the national finals in May.

Since its inception in 2003, the National Children’s Gospel Song Competition, which celebrates its “Sweet 16” this year, has been a significant platform for the development of Gospel’s youngest and most promising vocalists.
