Dynamix Team is 2019 World Reggae Dance Champion!

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport is pleased to announce the results from the World Reggae Dance Championship Final, held on Friday, August 2 at the National Arena:

          Winner: Dynamix Team (St. Catherine)

·         2nd place: Afro Jam Tribe (Kingston and St. Andrew)

·         3rd Place: New Era Team (St. James)

 Sectional Awards:

·         Most Disciplined Group: High Voltage (St. Thomas)

·         Best Costumed Group: Afro Jam Tribe (Kingston and St. Andrew)

·         Best International Group:  Be Your Authentic Self (Belgium)

·         Best Local Group:  Dynamix Team (St. Catherine)

·         Most Popular on Social Media: Flava X Empire (St. Mary)

 ABOUT THE WINNERS:

 Dynamix Team – St. Catherine

 Members: Hodeano Dixon, Nick Thorpe, Ryan Beckford, Travis Thompson, John Allison, Oshane Mitchell

 Performing together for 11 years, Dynamix Team have graced many a stage. They started out in local events, where they decided to collaborate as an official team. They went on to perform at the All-Island Insports Community Football and Netball Finals. They have also entered a myriad of competitions. Among them are the JCDC’s World Reggae Dance Championship, Dancing Dynamite, and Magnum KFC Skankaz. They have also competed in the JCDC’s National Finals. They previously won the World Reggae Dance Championship in 2016, and in that same year, took home awards from the JCDC’s National Festival of the Performing Arts.
