Great Expectations for Gospel Song Finals

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's National Gospel Song Competition reaches its crescendo at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, this Sunday July 29, 2001, starting time 6:00 p.m. The Competition has so far been keenly contested, and it is still anybody's guess as to who will walk away with the coveted title. All contestants appear evenly matched on the variables of talent and lyrics, with performance on the day being the only criteria that cannot be pre-evaluated. Patrons will get their monies worth, and should expect the same quality show as in previous years. Mrs. Heidi Leith, JCDC's Coordinator for the Contest, says that 'the contest is really not about the performance, but more about spiritual hope, enjoyment and rich praises'. It is her desire that 'the competition brings across to the audience that regardless of the many challenges we face, there is hope'. She went on to say, that, she believes Kingston is now ready and waiting with bated breadth for what is to come, especially after the scintillating performances experienced by audiences at the Road Shows. Life Productions Limited is collaborating with the JCDC for the fourth year running to stage this premier event. Founder and President of the organization, Mr. Dale Flynn, says that he 'expects the gospel song finals to be a stellar event, one that represents the 'Great Creator'. He further states that 'despite all the negatives in the society, there is a God in control, and that the atmosphere, organization and spirit of the event will glorify his name'. Regarding the contestants, Mr. Flynn, believes they are already winners, and he expects people from all walks of life to come out and support their favourite artistes. Christians and gospel enthusiasts alike will be treated to a fantastic array of performances to punctuate the presentation of the National Gospel Song Finalists. This year's entertainment will see a special performance by the National Gospel Mass Choir, Robert and Jenieve, and last year's winner, Noreta Lewis, all backed by Gifton Smith and the Exclusive Band. Special mention must be made of CVM TV, national sponsors of the event, who will be broadcasting delayed coverage of the finals later that evening. Other sponsors include LOVE TV and Radio, Victoria Mutual Building Society and Life Music. Come out and receive your share of the blessing, and as the scripture states, where two or three are gathered touching anything concerning me, I am in the midst.
