Leading Male Actors for Ranny Williams Tribute

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth and Culture will commemorate the 103rd anniversary of the birth of theatre practitioner and cultural icon Randolph Samuel Williams, CD, popularly known as “Maas Ran” with an evening of performances by the leading men in Jamaican Theatre. “Jamaican Men in Theatre Pay Tribute to Ranny Williams” will be held on his birthday anniversary, Monday, October 26, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre. The concert is free and open to the public.

The evening of entertainment will see theatrical performances from leading Jamaican actors including Munair ‘Sonny T’ Zacca, Volier ‘Maffie’ Johnson, Christopher ‘Johnny’ Daley, Christopher McFarlane, Michael ‘String Beans’ Nicholson, Jean Paul Menou, David Tulloch and Donald ‘Iceman’ Anderson; with a special performance of Maas Ran’s last written work by members of the Pantomime Company. The University of Technology will also make a special presentation.

Famed Jamaican Theatre practitioner and personal friend of Maas Ran, Dr. Barbara Gloudon will be the evening’s sole female performer, providing a commentary on the passions and highlights of this cultural icon’s life.

According to JCDC Marketing and Public Relations Director, Stephen Davidson: “The JCDC is excited to celebrate the birth of Maas Ran with this all-male line-up, especially given his contribution to Jamaican theatre. I invite all of Jamaica to come out and enjoy what promises to be a very entertaining family show, as we learn more about this cultural icon.”
