Miss Manchester Takes Home 2015 Festival Queen Crown

Chereese Ricketts, Miss Manchester, outshone her 12 fellow contestants to take home the coveted Miss Jamaica Festival Queen crown at the Grand Coronation last Saturday evening at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre. The bright-eyed 25 year-old also took home two sectional prizes: “Most Culturally Aware” and “Most Active in the Community”, bringing to life the 2015 Emancipation and Independence Celebrations overarching theme, “Proud and Free, Jamaica 53”.   In addition to the crown Miss Manchester received a Cash Award of $300,000, three days /two nights stay from Sandals Resorts International, a weekend for two at The Hilton Rosehall Resort & Spa, a Singer 32” LED Television, courtesy of Singer Jamaica and $200,000 towards a National Project courtesy of Lasco Financial Services, among other prizes.   First Runner up and a $150 000 cash award went to 21 year-old Issia Thelwell, Miss St. James, while Miss Kingston and St. Andrew, 24 year-old Michelle Thomas went home with third place and a $100 000.   Other Sectional prizes went to Miss St. Mary, Lazan Zina Frazer who took home Best Performance, Miss St. Catherine, Kameika Coleman received Most Poised and Miss Hanover, Kimberly Morant received most congenial. Sectional prize winners received a $30 000 cash prize and a trophy from the sponsors.       All the contestants including finalist received prizes and gift packages from the sponsors.
