JCDC World Reggae Dance Championship Elimination Show Set for Mandela Park on June 19

The Eastern Region leg of the JCDC World Reggae Dance Championship Elimination round is set for this Friday, June 19 at the Nelson Mandela Park, Half Way Tree starting at 5:00 p.m. Interested groups can still submit their entries for this year’s Championship at the JCDC Head Office, the Kingston & St. Andrew Office, or on spot at Mandela Park. Successful entrants will then move to the semi-final round.  This event is organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth and Culture.

The World Reggae Dance Championship is open to dance groups comprising 3 to 6 persons, 18 years of age and older and residing in and outside of Jamaica. Entries are accepted in any of these categories: Roots Reggae, Dancehall, Reggae Contemporary/Classic, Reggae Dancehall and Dance Narrative.

Entry forms for the competition is available at the JCDC Head Office located at 3-5 Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10, all JCDC parish offices island-wide and online at www.jcdc.gov.jm.

The elimination show will also feature the top 10 finalists in the 2015 Jamaica Festival Song Competition. The grand final for the World Reggae Dance Championship will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Independence Village, Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre starting at 8:00 p.m.
