FINAL FIVE FESTIVAL QUEENS TO BE CROWNED

The JCDC will close the Parish Coronations of Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition with the crowning of the final five Parish Queens this weekend in the parishes of Clarendon, St. Thomas, Westmoreland, St. James and Manchester. This competition organized by the JCDC, an agency of the Ministry of Youth & Culture will see these five, joining the eight cultural ambassadors named, vie an opportunity to be the National Queen and cultural ambassador at the grand coronation during the 2015 Independence Celebrations.

Clarendon will kick start the coronation this weekend with the crowning of their queen on Saturday, May 30 at the St. Gabriel Anglican Church Hall, 10 Church Street, May Pen starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are adults, $1000 presold, $1200 at the gate and children under 12 pay $300. Also on Saturday, May 30 Westmoreland and St. Thomas will crown their queens, the Westmoreland show will be at the Sean Lavery Faith Hall, Sananna-La-Mar starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are adults, $1000 presold, $1200 at the gate and children under 12 pay $500 and the St. Thomas coronation will be at Colonel Cove, Morant Bay starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are adults, $1000 and children under 12 pay $500.

On Sunday, May 31 St. James and Manchester will also crown their queens. The St. James coronation will be held at the Iberostar Hotel, Lilliput starting at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are adults, $1200 presold, $1500 at the gate and children under 12 pay $500. While the Manchester coronation will be at Cecil Charlton Hall, Mandeville starting at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are adults, $1000 presold, $1200 at the gate and children under 12 pay $500.

The contestants will be judged in categories such as Cultural Awareness, Community Involvement and Performance. The Parish Queens will receive cash awards, trophies and gift packages from various parish and national sponsors including, Excelsior, VMBS, Confidence, Biore, Jergens, Grace Fresh N Ready and This is Really Great Yogurt.

The grand coronation will be on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.
