FOUR FESTIVAL QUEENS TO BE CROWNED THIS WEEKEND

The parish coronations in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition continue this weekend with the crowning of Miss St. Elizabeth, Miss Hanover, Miss Kingston & St. Andrew and Miss St. Catherine. On Saturday, May 23 there will be three coronations, the first of which will be at the Alpart Sports Club, Nain in St. Elizabeth, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the JCDC St. Elizabeth Parish Office, Adults $700 presold and $1000 at the gate and Children under 12 years old, $400. The Miss Hanover Coronation will be held at the Jockey Factory in Lucea starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the JCDC Hanover parish office, Adult $1000 presold,$1200 at the gate and children under 12 years old, $400.

Also on Saturday May 23, Kingston & St. Andrew coronation will be held under the patronage of Her Worship the Mayor Senator Councillor Dr. Angella Brown-Burke. This will be held at the Louise Bennett Garden Theatre, 36 Hope Road, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are adults, $1000 presold, $1200 at the gate and children under 12 years old

 $500.

On Sunday, May 24, a new Festival Queen will be crowned to represent the parish of

St. Catherine. The show will take place at the Spanish Town Primary School, 1A White Church Street, Spanish Town starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the JCDC St. Catherine Parish Office, Adults, $1000 and children under 12 years old, $400.

The contestants will be judged in categories such as Cultural Awareness, Community Involvement and Performance. The Parish Queens will receive cash awards, trophies and gift packages from various parish and national sponsors including, Excelsior, VMBS, Confidence, Biore, Jergens and This is Really Great Yogurt.

The Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition is the premier forum for intelligent, culturally-aware and poised young ladies seeking a platform to make their contributions to nation building and to be selected as cultural ambassadors for Jamaica.
