TOP TEN FESTIVAL SONGS SELECTED

The top ten finalists in the 2015 Jamaica Festival Song Competition were selected from the 37 competitors at the semi-final held recently at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.

The semi-finalists gave a captivating performance ensuring that they secure one of the top ten spots. They will now compete for a chance to have their entry song form the musical backdrop for this year’s Emancipation and Independence celebrations. The top 10 includes 2 females, one who is visually-impaired. The title of the songs and the Performers are as follows:

According to David Reid, the Festival Song Coordinator “over 80 entries were received from across the island and were narrowed down to 37 from which the top ten were selected”. He further stated that the competition received some good entries this year that he thinks members of the public will appreciate them.

The national final for this competition is slated for later this year, ahead of the 2015 Emancipation and Independence Celebrations.
