Jean Binta-Breeze, Sheldon Shepherd for ‘Poetry Pudding & Punch’

“Come for the poetry, stay for pudding, punch and more,” says Natalie Morris, Western Regional Manager of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), organizers of the annual Poetry, Pudding & Punch, which will be held on Sunday, December 7 on the lawns of the Rose Hall Great House in St. James beginning at 5:00 p.m. The event is held in an effort to promote and stimulate interest in Jamaica’s literary arts and oral tradition.

The evening is being planned in association with the St. James Parish Cultural Committee and will feature several outstanding poets and dramatists including noted writer, Jean Binta-Breeze, Sheldon Shepherd and actress, playwright and director Nadine Rawlins.

JCDC Cultural Organizer for St. James, Vinton Haughton added that in addition to the literary feast, Jamaican baked Christmas treats and juices will be showcased at the Festival to sweeten the taste of patrons.

Young writers and poets from the writer's guild from several of the island’s noted universities and colleges will also be participating in the Festival while patrons will have the opportunity to unleash their creativity through an Open Mic segment.

Mr. Haughton is inviting persons to come and enjoy an evening of fun and good family entertainment. Patrons can access tickets at the JCDC St. James Office at a cost of Adults, $1,200 presold, $1,500 at the gate and children $500.
