Dutchie Culinary Festival Promises Stellar Taste With Rising Chef

On Sunday, August 3, the Dutchie Culinary Festival will unravel the taste buds of its patrons who will be able to journey on ‘A Voyage on the Palate’ Luncheon with upcoming and rising star Chef Theo Smith.

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission which is organizing the event will transform the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre as Chef Theo appeases the taste of individuals who purchase a luncheon ticket costing $5,000.00.  “Chef on the Rise” nominee for the Jamaica Observer Food Awards 2012, Chef Theo will prepare a three course meal for patrons who are guaranteed something extraordinary.

The Luncheon, ‘A Voyage on the Palate’ will comprise two seating at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and will serve as a nice family meal.  Tickets are available at JCDC offices. Jamaican families can come out and enjoy an entertaining and family filled day of fun and food. While the Luncheon costs $5,000.00 the Culinary Festival is free to the public who will be able to enjoy the diversity of Jamaican foods in creative and artistic ways.

Chef Theo realized culinary arts would be his area of fulfillment from age 15 and holds a Bachelors of Science in Food Service Management. In addition to his youthful exuberance, he has already captured several notable awards and accomplishments including  “Chef on the Rise” Nominee for the Jamaica Observer Food Awards 2012,  Nomination for the “Gold Spoon (1st Place) for  “The Best Use of Pork” in the Taste of Jamaica 2012 held by the Culinary Federation of Jamaica, Bronze Medal for the “Chef of the Year” category in the Taste of Jamaica 2012 held by the Culinary Federation of Jamaica and Recipient of the Prime Minister National Youth Awards for Excellence in Entrepreneurship 2013.

The Festival will take the form of live cooking demonstrations, cooking competitions, celebrity cook-off and mixology competitions, vegetable and fruit carvings displays and a showcase of Jamaican produces cooked in various ways. The competition will feature culinary students enrolled in training institutes, colleges or universities and persons working in the culinary field in restaurants or privately who will vie for the Golden Dutch Pot.
