JCDC TO FOCUS ON BEAUTIFYING RANNY WILLIAMS ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE ON LABOUR DAY

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth and Culture will embark on a massive clean-up and beautification of the monumental Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Labour Day, May 23.

Registered with the National Labour Day Secretariat, the objective of the project is to improve the appearance of the complex which also houses the iconic Louise Bennett Garden Theatre. The scope of work will include: improvement of landscape, painting of the premises, tree and flower planting and the painting of the parking lot and curve walls.

The Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre hosts many of the cultural events of the JCDC and other important functions and events. The JCDC staff along with volunteers from the Kiwanis Clubs of North St. Andrew and Liguanea, National Youth Service and the Jamaica National Foundation will embark on the well-needed exercise on Labour Day which is being celebrated under the theme, \'Take a Stand... Beautify Our Land\'.

JCDC Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Stephen Davidson said, “the Commission is extremely grateful to the Ranny Williams Redevelopment Committee, volunteers and partners, who have come on board to support the JCDC in beautifying the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre as the improvement of the complex will assist with income generation that will off-set maintenance and other costs. It will also support the JCDC with its mandate of cultural development as most of the Commission’s national events and programmes are hosted at the Entertainment Centre.”
