SEARCH ON FOR THE NEXT MISS JAMAICA FESTIVAL QUEEN

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth & Culture is looking for the next intelligent, culturally-aware and poised young lady, to reign as the 2014 Miss Jamaica Festival Queen and to become a cultural ambassador for brand Jamaica. The Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition is the premier forum for young women 18-25 years, to contribute to nation building and Jamaica’s cultural landscape.

The competition, which focuses on leadership, appreciation of the role of women, creative talent, culture and community involvement, continues to grow and attract some of Jamaica’s most intelligent young ladies. These ladies have gone on to represent the island in various spheres. Some of the outstanding past queens include Dr. Marsh Barnett, Jennifer ‘Jenny-Jenny’ Small, Jacinth Hall-Tracey, Dahlia Harris, and Kaysia Johnson.

According to Director of Marketing & Public Relations, Stephen Davidson, the competition has grown significantly over the years to become one of JCDC’s signature programmes. He noted that each year the contestants undergo intense training in areas such as social graces & etiquette, walk & poise and diction & voice, which has positively impacted their personal and professional development even after the competition has ended. In addition to the invaluable training and exposure, there is over one million dollars in cash and prizes to be won.

Entry Forms are available online at www.jcdc.gov.jm, at the JCDC Head Office located at 3-5 Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10, and all JCDC parish offices island-wide. Deadline for entries is Friday, February 28.
